Welcome to the 10th Conference of the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery and the 4th Conference on Nursing Research of Ibero-American and Portuguese-Speaking Countries

From 21st to 25th July 2014, in the City of Coimbra in Portugal, we would like to offer you a whole week to analyse the Contributions of Nursing and Midwifery to the Millennium Goals and to the development of health, with a special emphasis on Research, Health Care and Nursing and Midwifery Education in the world. This meeting is organized by the Nursing School of Coimbra, the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing, and the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery.

This is the first time that a meeting of the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery will be organized in Portugal, so it will contribute to the promotion of the interchange of nursing and midwifery training and research processes among the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery, among ESEnfC partner institutions, particularly Portuguese-speaking institutions, and to researchers, nursing and midwifery education professionals, nurses and midwives all over the world. The central theme of the conference will promote reflection on the contributions of Nursing and Midwifery to human development and the Millennium Development Goals.

The 4th Conference on Nursing Research of Ibero-American and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, organized on a biannual basis by the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing, since 2007, aims to develop a network of centres of excellence in research on Nursing and related sciences from Ibero-America and Africa.

The city of Coimbra, characterized by its warming spirit, history and academic traditions will guarantee an excellent meeting point for all of those who wish and are able to participate.

We would like to invite nursing and midwifery education professionals, health care providers, and researchers, as well as professionals from other areas who work towards improving health in different contexts and in different parts of the world to participate in this Conference.
