Instructions for abstract submission

The abstracts will be presented at the International Congress on Quality Challenges in Education Institutions, which will take place on October 19-20, 2017.

1 - DATES

Start of abstract submission – 05 April 2017
End of abstract submission – 01 October 2017

2 - TYPES OF PRESENTATION

Two types of presentations can be submitted for parallel sessions:
1 – Oral presentation;
2 – e-Poster.

Attention: Each type of presentation has its specific format (please see topic 6).

3 - THEMATIC AXES FOR SUBMISSION

In abstract submission, please identify the specific thematic axis in which your presentation best fits in:
A1 – Quality and Assessment in Higher Education
B1 – Quality and Assessment in non-Higher Education

4 - SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR ABSTRACT WRITING AND SUBMISSION

Abstracts should meet the criteria established by the scientific committee of the event:
a) Topics should be related to quality, assessment, and education;
b) The authors and presenter are responsible for the contents in the abstracts.
c) Each author should indicate the thematic axis in which the presentation best fits in;
d) Each abstract can only be submitted to one of the thematic axes;
e) Each abstract cannot have more than 4 authors;
f) Each author cannot be part of more than 4 abstracts;
g) Only 1 of the abstract authors can present it and his/her name must be included in the submission form;
h) Each presenter can present up to a maximum of 2 abstracts;
i) Abstracts can be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English;
j) All abstracts must be submitted through the Congress webpage (those sent by fax or email will not be accepted);
k) The abstract must have between 180 and 250 words:

Abstract: 180 - 250 words;
Keywords: maximum of 5.
    
5 - PEER REVIEW

Two reviewers, who are members of the scientific committee, will review the abstracts. The notification of abstract acceptance or rejection will be sent up to two weeks after its submission.

6 - PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF THE PRESENTATION FILES

Once the presentation is accepted, the authors must prepare and submit the presentation files (in their personal area, in the menu “Final Files”) until midnight GMT on 8 October 2017.
Oral presentations:
- The authors/presenters of accepted oral presentations must submit the final version of their presentation preferably in PowerPoint or PDF format. This file will be automatically available at the time and place for your presentation. If they do not submit the files, the organization will not ensure the technological resources for its presentation;
-  There is a maximum of 10 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for discussion.

e-Posters:
- The authors/presenters of accepted posters must submit the final version of their digital presentation in PNG (Portable Network Graphics) or PDF format. This file will be automatically available at the time and place for your presentation. If they do not submit the files, the organization will not ensure the technological resources for its presentation. Printed posters will not be accepted.
- There is a maximum of 5 minutes for presentation. Paper copies of the poster can be distributed.

7 - PRESENTATION

All presenters of accepted presentations must register for the congress and pay their fees until 8 October 2017, at midnight GMT. Presentations will be removed from the program if payment is not received until this date.
The presenter can be replaced by another author until 8 October 2017, at midnight GMT. The new presenter should register for the conference and pay the registration fee.

8 - CERTIFICATION

The presentation certificate will be elaborated based on the information provided in the submission form and will include: title of the presentation, name of the authors, name of the presenter, date and name of the event.
The certificates will be delivered by the moderator to the presenter at the end of the session. The number of certificates will correspond to the number of authors.
A certificate will be issued to the presentations accepted and presented according to the timetable. The presentations which are not presented at the time and date established will not be certified or published in the proceedings.
The organization will not correct any certificates.

9 - PUBLICATION

The accepted/presented presentations will be published in the Congress proceedings in digital format (one abstract per page). The authors are responsible for the scientific contents of these abstracts.
Full-text articles can be published provided that the authors send them until midnight GMT on 9 October 2017 to dqie@esenfc.pt. Each article will be assessed by reviewers based on the publication guidelines.
A book of proceedings and full-text articles will be elaborated and published as a Supplement of the Journal of Nursing Referência (which is an indexed journal, with an ISSN), as well as made available in the Congress website.
The full-text article must comply with the following guidelines:
- Be written according to the manual of the American Psychological Association (APA 6th edition).
- Have a maximum of 5 keywords.
- Be delivered in Word format, using the Arial font, size 11, with 1.5 spacing, no justification, A4 format (top and bottom margins of 2.5cm and left and right margins of 3cm), in a single column. The use of bold and underlining should be avoided, as well as font changing, colored backgrounds, etc. The article should not include footnotes and it should have a maximum of 10 pages, including references, tables, and figures (charts, images, etc.).
Only tables and figures (charts, images, etc.) are absolutely necessary for understanding the article should be included. These should be mentioned in the text and numbered consecutively by order of appearance, according to the type of text. Comments on data and results should precede the corresponding tables and figures (charts, images, etc.). Tables should present their numbers and titles above, as a heading, and figures (charts, images, etc.) should present their numbers and titles below, as a caption. The key to any abbreviation used in the figures/tables should be described below them.
