The Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing Domain (UICiSa: dE) is going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the journal Referência. A series of relevant initiatives are being prepared to commemorate this date: the 2nd meeting of Referees of the journal Referência, the 1st meeting of Publishers of Portuguese Scientific Nursing Journals and a Conference on Research and Dissemination of Scientific Knowledge.
The UICiSa: dE is a research unit accredited by the Foundation for Science and Technology and hosted by the Nursing School of Coimbra, which follows three research lines: "Training of Health Professionals and Education for Health", "Well-being, Health and Disease" and "Health Systems and Organisations".
These research lines are coordinated by Professor Dr. Manuel Alves Rodrigues (also the scientific coordinator of the unit), Professor Dr. Aida Cruz Mendes and Professor Dr. Manuela Frederico.

Meanwhile, the UICiSa: dE has published another issue of the journal Referência. This edition- No. 6, II series (June 2008) -, includes an essay entitled "The History of Nursing in Cape Verde", as well as eight research papers. |
The titles of the papers of this edition are "Adaptation to Portuguese of the Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale (MSHS)", "Pain Assessment in Children with Cognitive Disabilities and Limitations in Verbal Communication", "Influence of the correction of the latch-on in the success of the Breastfeeding: results of an experimental study", "Motivation for breastfeeding: construction of an assessment tool", The nurse with the end-of-life person in the construction of caring", The Burnt Patient and the Family Dynamics: The Impact of the Disease in the Family", Touch in clinical practice" and "Supervision in Nursing Clinical Placements: the Perspective of Cooperating Nurses".
The journal Referência, is an indexed quarterly published journal, referenced by numerous national and international scientific publications, available in full text format on the homepage of the School www.esenfc.pt and at the Spanish database "CANTÁRIDA" of the Index Foundation.
The journal Referência aims at disseminating scientific knowledge produced in Education and Health Sciences, which represents a gain for the quality of health care and has an impact on the scientific development of Nursing.
Until the present moment, a total of 19 issues of the journal Referência have been published in two séries.
