In this academic year, the group of teachers of the ESEnfC currently offering health information sessions at the Instituto Educativo de Souselas has already intervene twice among the children of this education institution.
Teachers Marina Montezuma and Arminda Gomes (coordinator of the project) have organised, respectively, meetings on “Healthy diet” and “Harmful effects of tobacco”.
The first meeting took place on October 16th and was aimed at two groups of 6th grade students. The second training session took place on November 17th directed at 8th grade students.
The training sessions were integrated in the celebrations of the World Food Day and the Non-smoker Day.
In parallel, a training session for the non-teaching staff also took place on November 12th on “Hygiene and Hospital Setting”.
The following two meetings with students of the Instituto Educativo de Souselas are scheduled to take place on December 2nd and 11th.
First, Professor Paulo Alexandre will clear the doubts of 7th grade students on AIDS.
Nine days after, Professor João Franco will discuss Family Planning with 10th and 11th grade students.
Meanwhile, on December 11th and February 12th and 19th, these students (from 9th and 12th grade) will visit the Laboratory of Maternal Health of the ESEnfC. The visits will be conducted by Professors João Franco and Vitória Almeida.
Later on (in May), there will be training sessions on First Aid Care, lectured by Professor Cristina Veríssimo.
In many of these sessions, the professors of the ESEnfC will have the support of 4th-year students of the Nursing Degree Course, currently participating in clinical teaching.
