Three students of the 3rd Post-Licentiate Specialisation Course in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing won three first prizes due to the presentation of communications about their research work on "Self-care and care provided to the new-born in puerperium: from the difficulties to the use of the support phone number".
The students - nurses Graça Silva, Helena Serranho and Carla Macedo - presented their communications at the "National Meeting on Maternal Health and Obstetrics" (24th to 26th September, in Fórum da Maia), at the "3rd Meeting of the Hospital de Santo André" (9th to 10th October, in Leiria) and at the "1st Obstetric Meetings: For a better life" (23rd to 24th October, in Famalicão).
The research project of these three students of the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) was carried out under the supervision of Professor Isabel Margarida Mendes.
The study was conducted at the Obstetric Service of Hospital de Santo André (Leiria), where a postpartum support phone number was created.
Graça Silva and Helena Serranho are specialist nurses in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing at the Hospital de Santo André. Carla Macedo is also a specialist nurse in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing at the Maternity Hospital Bissaya Barreto (Coimbra).
