On September 20-24, teachers José Manuel de Matos Pinto, Maria Vitória Pereira de Almeida, Marília da Conceição Loureiro Simões and Rosa Cristina Correia Lopes participated in the 18th World Congress of Epidemiology and in the 7th Brazilian Congress of Epidemiology, which gathered around 7500 participants representing 50 countries.
The meeting on “Epidemiology in the Construction of Health for All: Tools for a Changing World” took place in Porto Alegre, in the facilities of the Fundação das Indústrias do Rio Grande do Sul (FIERGS).
According to the teachers of the ESEnfC, «the risks of infectious diseases such as cholera, malaria and dengue were widely publicised, with a direct impact resulting from changes on the biodiversity and rupture of the ecosystem».
The following numbers provide an account of the dimension of this scientific event: 4800 posters (eleven from the ESEnfC), 16 conferences, 43 symposiums, 25 lectures, 28 mini-symposiums and around 100 coordinated communications.
The poster communications of teachers/researchers of the ESEnfC comprised the following topics: “The family growing-up healthily”; “Adolescents and sexuality”; “The prevalence of pain among patients attending an urban health centre”; “The structures and functions of adolescent groups”; “Adolescence and developmental risks”; “Tell me what you eat….”; “Sexuality – Experiences and risk among Nursing students”; Portuguese young people: Influences and predictors of alcohol consumption and abuse”; “Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs: consumption among Nursing students”; “Nursing students and sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS”; "Effect of a freirien's brucellosis prevention course at shepherd's population".
