"Building Dating Relationships: Say no to violence" is the title of the forum that the Nursing School of Coimbra is organising and that will take place on November 26th, with the presence of the President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, Dra. Elza Pais.
The forum is integrated in the project White Ribbon Campaign, which tries to reduce violence, starting with the violence against women during dating relationships, and promote equality of gender and opportunities.
The opening session is scheduled to 2 p.m., on Campus B of the ESEnfC. The initiative includes an intervention carried out by project students (Theater Forum).
At 3.15 p.m. starts a round-table on “Building Meaningful Relationships”. Moderated by journalist Cristina Correia (Group Edimpresa), in this round-table will have the participation of Dra. Cláudia Coelho (researcher at the University of Minho), Dr. Vasco Prazeres (Department of Information, Communication and Education for Health – General-Directorate of Health) and Dr. Miguel Leite (president of the Portuguese Association of Studies and Intervention in Positive Psychology).
Dr. João Oliveira and Dra. Teresa Portugal, deputies of the Assembly of the Republic, were asked to be commentators.
The path suggested to youngsters who participated in the project “White Ribbon Campaign” has to do with the strategy of peer education, a model in which young people train other young people.
The project, always assisted by teachers, contemplates the training of volunteers from both sexes (students of the Nursing degree course) who will participate with their colleagues in campaigns of internal information at the ESEnfC and, afterwards, with teenagers of secondary schools, suggesting and developing the training of other peer educators of these educational contexts.
