Play approaches domestic violence [Friday, at 9.30 p.m., at Campus A]

The Nursing School of Coimbra hosts, on Friday evening, a play written in the scope of domestic violence and gender differences prevention.

"O que é que se passa?" (What is going on?) is the title of this theatre-forum (designated like this because it intends to be a place of debate and discussion). It is responsibility of the Pele group: João Pedro Correia, Susana Madeira (actors) and Hugo Cruz (psychologist).

The goal of this team's project seat in Oporto is to educate and to warn the population (12-year olds and more as well as adults) about those phenomena.

The story focus subjects like dating, jealousy, the control over the other, the aggressive behaviours, sexuality, the relationship with parents and friends and the school performance - the risk factors likely to be associated to domestic violence during adult age.

This kind of theatre performances aim at using theatre discussion to open minds, in order to promote the participation of citizens in social and political issues related to the population.

This performance, presented at 9.30 p.m. at Campus A of the Nursing School (at the sports field), emerges as a training moment for the nursing students that take part of the project "White Ribbon Campaign", which seeks, through the peers education, to reduce violence, starting by that violence exerted over women during dating, as well as to promote the maximum of gender and opportunities equality.
