A group of professors of the Nursing School of Coimbra was awarded the prize for the best communication in poster format at the VI International Conference on the Culture of Care, on 12th and 13th June at the University of Alicante.

The awarded poster by the authors Marília Neves, Maria do Céu Carrageta, Helena Freitas, Regina Amado, Irma Brito, Maria Neto, Rosa Cristina Lopes, Rosa Melo, Rosa Pedroso and Paula Vidigueira is called "Nursing: which concept do students in initial training have?" and shows part of the results of a student characterisation project, based on a sample of students who started their Licentiate Degree Course in Nursing in 2007. The poster presentation by the ESEnfC teachers stood out from amongst a set of 17 posters submitted to the meeting, by participants of institutions from seven countries: besides Spain and Portugal, also Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Chile. |
This poster was the only one presented by an exclusively Portuguese team.
Another poster with Portuguese members was also presented at this Conference. However, it was developed in co-authorship with the Research and Development Unit in Nursing and the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil).
The VI International Conference on the Culture of Care, subordinated to the theme "Family, Culture and Care: From diversity to particularity", which took place simultaneous with the IX Meeting of Qualitative Research, had various and interesting round tables, oral and poster communications.
Among other moments, we could stand out a round table on "Nursing magazines and emerging themes in the History of Nursing, Anthropology and phenomenology of the care of qualitative research", as well as the last lecture, conducted by Professor Dr. Manule Amezcua, president of the Index Foundation of Nursing and professor of Research Methodology and Scientific Knowledge at the Researchers School of the same Foundation.
