On Thursday and Friday the international experts will meet with the management bodies, the members of the teaching staff and the non-teaching staff, the students and the external partners of the ESEnfC. This visit is considered an important moment for the development and the recognition of the institution at the international level.
At this stage of the process the experts will get to know the reality of the ESEnfC and evaluate the pertinence of the self-evaluation report already submitted to the EUA.
This report is the result of 11 work meetings, which involved over 100 people: ten members of the internal evaluation commission of the ESEnfC, 79 teachers, 29 non-teaching staff members and 17 students.
A SWOT analysis was carried out (strong points, threats and opportunities), which is being articulated with the axes of intervention established in a meeting of the Strategic Plan 2009-2013 ("Shaping the Future Together").
The second visit of the EUA - the main visit - will be scheduled for September/October, in accordance with the experts' agenda and need for clarification.
Between October and December the EUA team will then elaborate a preliminary report, which will be submitted to the self-evaluation team of the ESEnfC and to the respective management bodies. After a possible reformulation, this report will be concluded, including suggestions for a quality increase at the School.
The ESEnfC was one of the ten institutions chosen by the Directorate-General of the Higher Education for the co-financing of the voluntary evaluation programme by the EUA in 2008.
As a non-integrated Higher Education institution, it is the first Nursing School in Portugal and even in Europe to be subject to an evaluation by the EUA.
The experts will evaluate aspects such as management, financial resources, capacity for internationalisation and admission rules.
The international team of evaluators is composed of the teachers Winfried B. Müller (Austria), Dionyssis Kladis (Greece) and Mette Karoliussen (Norway), and the student Sanja Brus (Slovenia).
