During the closing ceremony of the first course of the Senior University, "Healthy Growing/Culture and Citizenship", the President of the Directing Board assured that the Senior University is going to proceed the next academic year.
According to Professor Maria da Conceição Bento, who awarded the diplomas to 15 senior students, «it is a project which cannot stop», as it makes the ESEnfC «a more affectionate school».
Professor Conceição Bento also emphasised that «the investment in global training» offered by the Nursing School of Coimbra, is linked to the fact that everyone should be given the opportunity to better live «each single moment of his or her life».
In this sense, the President announced officially the continuation of the 1st course and the beginning of a new one, not revealing, however, the areas of study.
According to the overall evaluation, the students who completed the training liked the course.
The majority of the students felt positive about the contents lectured, the pedagogical professor/student relationship, the understanding and friendliness and the timetables.
Palmira Pedro, the president of the Parish Council of Almedina, was one of the first Senior University students.
Today, in representation of the student body, Palmira Pedro suggested that what calls for a celebration was the «reopening of the following year». She was pleased with the teaching staff and the offered resources, both on the part of the ESEnfC, as well as on the part of the Polyvalent Socio-Cultural Centre of São Martinho, which participated in the conception of the project. «We want a Senior University to make us feel helpful and alive», said Palmira Pedro, suggesting that, neither the days of training, nor the timetables, place or teachers should be subject to change.
She also mentioned the hilarious first impressions of the gymnastics class: All the male students were wearing suits and ties and all the female students were wearing high heels, while the professor was saying «Back straight» and «Bend your knees».
The ceremony was also attended by the president of the Polyvalent Socio-Cultural Centre of São Martinho, Maria Piedade Martins, and the president of the Parish Council of São Martinho, Antonino Atunes.
