The Scientific-Pedagogical Unit of Rehabilitation Nursing (UCPER) of the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) is aimed at the professional practice and development of rehabilitation nursing. It provides advanced technical, scientific, cultural, and human-centered training that values lifelong learning and allows students to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies to solve problems in new or complex situations.
Special needs patients in their current settings constitute the main intervention target of the UCPER, with nursing care delivery occurring in different clinical practice settings (acute care and rehabilitation inpatient units, continuous and palliative care, and the community)
As an area of recognized clinical intervention, it responds to the population’s actual/potential needs and new demands, playing an essential role in identifying the necessary resources and interventions to reintegrate the dependent person into the family and the community.
