Students advise citizens to Enjoy the Summer without a Sunburn

Today, in the downtown of Coimbra, students of the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) carried out an information and alert campaign about skin cancer, the most common type of cancer among the white population.

In this campaign, “Enjoy the Summer Without a Sunburn”, the students called for attention to the importance of prevention and early detection of the disease.

They talked to citizens of all ages and distributed brochures explaining skin cancer and the main signs.

This campaign for screening of skin lesions and information on the risks of sun exposure was an initiative of two students of the 4th year of the Licentiate Degree Course (Diana Ferraz and Inês Rebelo), who are currently taking part in an internship programme at the Dermatology Service of the Hospitals of the University of Coimbra

Professor Pedro Parreira supervised the campaign, which also had the participation of nurses of the Dermatology Service and the collaboration of 4th and 2nd-year students of the Licentiate Degree Course in Nursing.
