The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) will be hosting from Wednesday to Friday the 2nd Seminar of the Virtual Hospital. It is within the scope of this project that a pedagogical, multimedia instrument is being created which offers several learning occasions in simulated professional context.
A number of 24 collaborators of five European countries - education and health institutions from Portugal, Belgium, Bulgaria, France and Italy - will reflect upon the creation of this "online" support which will make it easier for the students to develop clinical skills in nursing.
At the Virtual Hospital the student has the possibility of accomplishing pedagogical activities assigned by the teacher, which require students to apply and develop the targeted skills, e.g. a simple observation exercise or the analysis of an authentic complex case.
Besides other goals, this project also aims at offering students the possibility of developing knowledge, qualifications and skills which will facilitate their entry into the national and European labour market.
The Virtual Hospital project has the duration of two years and will be completed by 15th December 2009. It is financed by the European Commission within the scope of the Leonardo da Vinci Education and Lifelong Training Programme.
