The 2nd Post-Licentiate Specialisation Course in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing has finished. Two years of learning have passed by.
Thus, teachers and students have savoured the moment today.
In a ceremony full of emotions, besides the acquired knowledge, also the affective relationship between the new 27 specialist nurses and the teaching staff was commemorated. Moreover, several speeches were held during the graduation ceremony.
The nurse Paula Amado, representing the students, pointed out the effort of the teachers who invested in their training and who helped them «to reach the top».
In the opinion of the course coordinator of the Nursing School of Coimbra, Professor Maria Vitória Almeida, the students were given a preparation which makes them capable of meeting with certainty a wide range of health-related challenges related to motherhood and parenthood, due not only to the teachers' commitment, but also to the sophisticated laboratory resources currently available at the ESEnfC.
The President of the Directing Board of the ESEnfC, Professor Conceição Bento, pointed out the «formative process» which the two last years represented for those students, expressed her gratitude to the head-of-service nurses for their availability which allowed the students to attend the course, and finally called attention to the role of the teachers, students and families for the achievement of academic success.
The ceremony was also attended by the students' relatives, including babies.
In the opinion of Professor Vitória Almeida, «women's health and obstetrics is the most beautiful of all arts».
