The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) has organised its 1st Forum on Entrepreneurship, on 17tth June 2008.
The initiative was integrated into the activities developed by the ESEnfC and aimed at promoting and informing the school community about the change of organisational culture and the development of entrepreneurial skills.
The goal of this forum was to facilitate the students' integration into the labour market, as well as to encourage them to create their own job.
At the meeting, which was also attended by responsible persons of the entities related to work or credit, as well as by entrepreneurial health professionals, the topics "Entrepreneurship in Health" and "Incentives and Financing" were approached.
There were debates and discussions, as well as expositions.
Engineer Norberto Pires, the President of the Coimbra Innovation Park, Professor Dr. Luís Pinto de Andrade, professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco and coordinator of the Centre of Studies and Regional Development, and Professor Pedro Parreira, responsible at the ESEnfC for the promotion of the Department of Entrepreneurship, also attended this meeting.
During the forum professors of the university and polytechnic higher education system agreed on the need to reward the students' merit, rewarding them, either through the assignment of credits, or through the recognition of competences (included in the supplement to the diploma, which will be issued to the student at the end of the course).
On the other hand, the ESEnfC has participated for the first time in 2008 in the Poliempreende Competition which aims at motivating students of polytechnic higher education to think of business ideas and to put them into practice.
Approximately fifty students of the School were involved in the 5th edition of the Poliempreende. The majority of them idealised innovative business projects directed at social entrepreneurship.
The Poliempreende project, besides being a competition, is characterised by a great curricular enrichment for the participating students, providing at the same time response to the new challenges of the Bologna process and to the orientations of the Strategy of Lisbon, having as fundamental goal to foment the promotion of entrepreneurship at higher education institutions.
The Poliempreende project helps to stimulate applied research oriented towards the market, directed at the creation of innovative enterprises in the prospect of growing.
