The Nursing School of Coimbra has signed a cooperation protocol with the University of Cape Verde on Wednesday, 9th April, which will open the way for the development of joint courses and the collaboration on the conception and implementation of Study Plans of 1st and 2nd Cycle Courses, or Postgraduate Courses in Nursing.
The agreement signed on that African archipelago by the President of the Directing Board of the ESEnfC, Professora Maria da Conceição Bento, and by the Rector of the University of Cape Verde, Professor António Correia da Silva, embraces the scientific, pedagogical and cultural domains, in view of the implementation of interchange relations which are expected to result in benefits for both parts.
The lecturing of subjects, modules of Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree Programmes, as well as the supervision of Master's theses and Doctoral dissertations, by teachers of both institutions - whether in Portugal or in Cape Verde -, is from now on possible, on condition of approval of the respective Scientific Boards and according to the internal regulations of each of the institutions.
The agreement facilitates interinstitutional mobility for the accomplishment of scientific and technical internships, not only on the part of teachers, but also on the part of undergraduate and/ or postgraduate students.
The agreement also enables teachers of both institutions to collaborate on joint research projects, at the same time as it foresees interchange in terms of development of cultural initiatives on both sides.
This also applies to the participation of teachers of both institutions in colloquiums, conferences, congresses, courses and meetings organised by any of both institutions or in partnership.
During the work mission in Cape Verde, Professora Conceição Bento, who was accompanied by the President of the Scientific Board of the ESEnfC, Professor Rogério Vieira, was given the opportunity to hold a conference on "Nursing teaching: the Portuguese case" and to visit several structures and bodies of the Health sector, such as the Hospital Agostinho Neto, the Hospital Baptista de Sousa, the Regional Hospital Santiago Norte and several Health Centres.
The ESEnfC delegation has also organised a work meeting with bodies of the local Ministry of Health and with the Nurses Association and visited the Nursing School Manuel Olímpio in Praia and the Nursing School in Mindelo.
