Project Summary
The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) is a Higher Education institution of excellence in the health area in Portugal and worldwide. In recent years, ESEnfC has invested in Innovation and promoted Entrepreneurship through its Entrepreneurship Office and the TecCare strategic development axis - Experimental and applied research in health care technologies - of UICISA: E - Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing. UICISA: E is the only Nursing research unit funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), having obtained the classification of Very Good in the last evaluation panel.
The Unit develops prototypes, utility models, and patents in the area of health technologies focusing on aging and active life. It carries out clinical research on medical devices, usability studies, translational research on medical devices, and provides services to companies. Its strong commitment to creating innovative ideas has resulted in an investment in teaching and development of innovative healthcare projects for stakeholders such as companies, governing bodies, technological centers, health units, health professionals, and patients. Through the TecCare axis, it focuses on experimental and applied research in health care technologies, creating consortiums with companies seeking to enhance their strategy with innovative products that meet healthcare needs. The Unit is strongly committed to creating and developing innovative products through translational clinical research on the validation, safety, and effectiveness of medical devices.
