4NoPressure: Development of smart clothing for pressure ulcer prevention

Project Summary

The primary objective of the 4NoPressure Project is to research and develop a new type of clothing within the Smart Health Textiles typology for bedridden or severely disabled patients in hospital and home environments. This clothing should be able to: 1) reduce the occurrence of pressure ulcers (PU), through prevention and therapeutic action; 2) prevent the occurrence of infections resulting from PU; 3) monitor the clinical condition of patients at high risk of developing PU, in hospital settings; and 4) improve the quality of life of patients with PU.

The Project brings together experts with combined skills and knowledge in a consortium composed of the leading textile company IMPETUS, the University of Minho (UMinho), the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), and the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC).
