ABLEFIT: Development of an Advanced Rehabilitation System

Project Summary:

The ABLEFIT project aims to carry out research and development (R&D) activities for the creation of an advanced system of physical rehabilitation for bedridden patients with prolonged immobility that can prevent complications associated with bed rest. Additional objectives include enhancing the functional capacity of musculoskeletal, cardiac, and respiratory systems and promoting the integration of physical exercise programs adequate to the clinical condition of each patient, as well as improving their quality of life. This project is being developed at the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA: E) and is cofunded by the European Regional Development Fund through POCI.

The successful execution of the ABLEFIT project is supported by a multidisciplinary consortium whose member partners are ORTHOS XXI (leading promoter), a company with considerable expertise and experience in developing medical and rehabilitation devices, WISEWARE, IPC-ISEC, and ESEnfC/UICISA: E (with a strong focus on the healthcare sector).
